Works great in a 357 mag.
Review by Oldsquid
I do not own a 38 spl. However I purchase 38 +P rounds now and then for practice in my Ruger GP100 357 Mag or my Ruger 77/357 carbine rifle. Nice round even for medium size critter hunting. A nice home defense round as well.
Thanks Lucky Gunner for your continued fast service.

Very good +P .38 cal. ammo.
Review by damudbug
I have used at least one box of this ammo through my S & W Model 64 .38. I live in a rural area so I can shoot any target to see how this ammo holds up. It is excellent +P ammo which I used to carry in my on duty revolver before I retired long ago. Many folks think this is over the top ammo. But S & W states it is the right ammo for maximum take down power as it is designed to enter and then expand to get the job done. For conceal carry or even open carry. I will not carry the FMJ ammo, (in a hand gun) as it can go completely through a person and continue through and possibly hit and kill an innocent person. This ammo has the proper take down power to enter and expand, causing the maximum damage to your intended target therefore not exiting the body as it expands and does the best job. After expanding in your target, even if it did exit the other side of a body, it would be expanded to the point that it would not have the velocity to hurt anyone but the person you had on target. The hollow point ammo is designed just for that purpose. Most of us all know that a hollow point bullet is the safest ammo to use to do harm to only your intended target. Example a 158 grain FMJ bullet has the velocity and capability to enter and exit any human or animal and keep traveling until it stops. I only use FMJ ammo for plinking or at the indoor range for paper human targets.

Excellent Self-Defense Round
Review by Senior for Defense
I had multiple problems with jamming with my Kahr P45 until my gunsmith recommended Federal ammo. When I bought my S&W 442 he again recommended Federal. The 129gr Hydra-Shok JHP has a moderate recoil and I had no problem accomplishing center of mass hits. The price is reasonable and (at least with Lucky Gunner) available.

Overall good ammo

These are great defensive rounds for a full size or even short barrel 38 capable of firing +P. Tested in wet paper they perform as advertised. Tested on armadillos, they do real well too.
