Speer Gold Dot G2 ammunition represents the latest in projectile technology developed specifically to fulfill federal law enforcement contracts. As such, these .40 Smith & Wesson cartridges are loaded with a classic 180-grain Gold Dot Hollow-Point projectile; this style of hollow-point bullet uses permanently bonded copper-plating to prevent separation and preserve threat-dropping momentum. The G2 version of this round adds an elastomer filling to the hollow cavity which prevents clogging while passing through heavy denim, thick layers of leather, and drywall.

As a result, these rounds can be expected to defeat intermediate barriers and expand reliably during entry into a threat. 180 grains is quite common to the .40 S&W caliber and produces typical recoil alongside flat-shooting trajectories and excellent terminal ballistics. Each projectile is loaded into a reloadable brass casing that bears a clean-igniting Boxer primer at its base. The case is nickel-coated for smooth, friction-free cycling which enhances reliability while resisting corrosion from sweat and long-term storage. Speer’s American made Gold Dot line is one of the most venerable names in tactical ammunition and undergoes constant improvement in order to produce low muzzle flash and immediate stops.
