The Extreme Point is no run-of-the-mill polymer-tipped hunting bullet. Its tip is enormous – constituting almost half of its frontal surface area! That doesn’t just help the bullet overcome air resistance. It also hyperaccelerates terminal expansion beginning at the instant of impact, which causes a crippling trauma-wave of energy delivery and an ever-so-truly devastating wound channel.
Winchester says they recorded this round’s 2,400 fps muzzle velocity and 0.198 G1 BC with a 20” test barrel. That’s very helpful of them, because it allows us to calculate this approximate ballistic data:
0yds: 2,400 fps | 2,430 ft lbs | -1.5”
50yds: 2,191 fps | 2,025 ft lbs | 0.2”
100yds: 1,993 fps | 1,675 ft lbs | 0.0”
150yds: 1,806 fps | 1,376 ft lbs | -2.4”
200yds: 1,632 fps | 1,124 ft lbs | -7.4”
250yds: 1,473 fps | 916 ft lbs | -15.7”
300yds: 1,331 fps | 748 ft lbs | -28.0”
