This round comes to the party with a 240 grain lead semiwadcutter. The bullet’s tip is shaped similarly to one of those jumbo crayons people give to toddlers because they can’t fit them up their noses: with a flat meplat, which transitions to a 90° shoulder where the bullet is seated in the case mouth. The semiwadcutter’s shape imprints a clean hole through paper or cardboard, which in turn enables the shooter to appreciate just how snugly he’s grouping his shots together.
We wouldn’t be so bold as to label any 44 Mag ammo “low recoil,” although this round’s 1,100 fps muzzle velocity does suggest that you might feel less kick while firing it. (American Quality Ammunition didn’t specify the length of the test barrel they used to capture that MV.)
American Quality Ammunition was founded to crank out high volumes of training ammo for West Coast law enforcement agencies back in the early ‘80s, but has since branched out into all kinds of ammo. As is always the case with American Quality, you are looking at nonmagnetic, Boxer-primed and new brass-cased ammo. It’s packed loose: all 250 rounds sitting together in one large box.
