This 45 Long Colt cartridge by Buffalo Bore is loaded with a 225 grain XPB. Barnes’ self-defense bullet is made entirely of copper, so it causes very little fouling of the bore and exhibits extreme weight retention during penetration so that it may create a deep wound channel. Although the 45 Long Colt is considered by many to be a less than optimal caliber for hunting, such a bullet would permit hunting where toxic ammunition is banned as well. The monolithic XPB is exceedingly accurate, and possesses the hollow point nose cavity that devastating expanding terminal performance hinges upon.

This +P cartridge is suitable for use in Winchester Models 1892 and 1894, the Colt Anaconda, all Freedom Arms revolvers, all Dan Wesson revolvers, and all Henry lever actions. Under no circumstances should you ever load it in the new model Ruger Vaquero, however. Please make certain that your particular firearm is up to the task of firing this ammo before asking it to.

This cartridge offers Buffalo Bore’s high quality and reloadable brass casing, and is Boxer primed with modern clean burning propellant.

Q: Can this round be used in Taurus Judge Magnum 3 inch cylinder.

A: Hi Mario. Thanks for reaching out to us at LuckyGunner.com. Some of the Judges will handle +P ammo and some will not. You will need to look in your owners manual or call Taurus to make sure. Better safe than sorry my friend !

Q: Will this round effectively be used for larger game animals, such as hog and deer?

A: Hi Jeffery! Keeping in mind that the .45 LC is a large but slow caliber, it will do the job on hogs and deer. I believe that these size and type of game is the upper end of the capabilities of the .45 LC. The Buffalo Bore is the best way to go on these!
