The lead-free Dual Performance is a hollow point that is precision machined from solid copper bar stock, hence its effectively perfect rotational stability. The Dual Performance is incapable of placing lead fouling in a rifle’s bore, just like it is incapable of losing momentum as the result of core/jacket separation. It only penetrates soft tissue more deeply thanks to its higher than average 62 grain weight.
The Dual Performance’s name is a nod to its two-stage terminal ballistics. Once its nose cavity fills up with pressurized soft tissue, the Dual Performance begins rapidly expanding in diameter. At a certain point the Dual Performance opens up like a flower – but instead of delicate petals, it unfurls multiple knife-like fronds that ruin any soft tissues they scrape against.
Black Hills is an authority on 5.56 ammunition, as they supply MK 262 to our very own Armed Forces. These hunting and home defense loads aren’t quite as accurate, although they would certainly hold their own against a demanding marksman’s expectations. Brass-cased*, Boxer-primed, reloadable, and available by the case for a limited time only!
*This ammunition’s cases are brand new. They are discolored because they were annealed at the factory without being subsequently polished for better cosmetics.
