The quest for 5.56x45 M855 ammunition is never-ending. But have you looked into SS109 ammunition during your search? It’s the same exact thing as M855 – non-Americans just have a different name for it!

This is new 5.56x45 ammunition from the Oman Munition Production Company, which is located in the southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula. Beneath the tip of the FMJ projectile sits a seven-grain steel core. It fortifies the SS109 projectile so it can reliably penetrate a wide range of barriers, including 1/8” thick steel within ranges up to 650 yards (under optimal conditions). The SS109 bullet can also penetrate soft tissue up to a depth of 20”. Although it will not splinter apart into shrapnel like the M193 bullet, it may split into two pieces as it burrows into soft tissue.

As you might have guessed, the SS109 bullet is magnetic. Its heavier weight helps it retain more energy over longer distances, although a 1:9 or 1:8 barrel twist is required to give the meatier bullet optimal accuracy. (1:7 is also serviceable.)

OMPC is an ISO certified manufacturer and produces their 5.56x45 ammo according to NATO specs. This ammo is brass-cased, Boxer-primed, non-corrosive and reloadable. It’s conveniently packaged in a new production ammo can, so you can count on it to stay fresh and ready-to-fire even after you’ve kept it in storage for a very long time.
