This cartridge is loaded with one of those high-velocity, flat-shooting bullets you’ve heard so much about. But it’s a lot more than just light. It is a hollow point boat tail, which unites a thin, concentric, and aerodynamic jacket with a form-fitted lead core in the interest of higher-velocity and wind-resistant downrange performance.
Is the HPBT good for deer hunting? We’re not saying it can’t smoke the Great Prince of the Forest, but its thin and relatively weak jacket and non-expanding terminal ballistics both make it a lackluster tool for the job. Stick varmints with HPBTs, if you like. That’s about the extent of their practicality for hunting. But, for an accurate round at a great price point for the caliber, you've found it!
