The 6.8mm SPC is an intermediate cartridge that sits between the 5.56 NATO and 7.62 NATO cartridges in caliber and ballistics. Designed to fit in AR-15 pattern rifles, the cartridge was developed through joint efforts of Remington Arms and military experts from the US Special Operations Command. First introduced in the early 2000s, it has seen some service in the Middle East in the hands of both American and allied forces and has a significant following among civilian shooters as well.
Federal Premium Ammunition is a subsidiary of Alliant Techsystems, one of the companies that has participated in R&D work on the 6.8mm SPC. Federal produces a wide variety of ammo for American shooters; its American Eagle series is designed to provide an inexpensive but reliable target shooting round in popular calibers.
