This 7.62x39 cartridge by Maxim Defense Industries is specifically designed to optimize a short-barreled rifle’s performance for self-defense, although it’s just as useful for regular rifles as well as for varmint hunting.

This round’s bullet is lighter than usual at 117 grains because it contains no lead. The Solid Spun Copper bullet by Fort Scott Munitions doesn’t deal accentuated damage to soft tissue by expanding inside of it like a hollow point would have. The bullet instead features a proprietary Tumble Upon Impact design, enabling it to spin around like a pinwheel to shred and tear anything it enters at a velocity of 500 fps or faster.

As the bullet’s sharp tip carves out a crippling wound channel, the Solid Spun Copper bullet behaves a bit like a miniature lawnmower blade inside of its target. This terminal performance neutralizes a threat quite efficiently, and kills game like coyote and hogs good and dead!
