This 7.62x51 cartridge possesses virtually identical dimensions to a 308 Win round, and it is loaded to a slightly lower pressure than the commercial round to boot. That’s why your 308 rifle’s going to fire it just fine. The bullet is a 150 grain FMJBT, with a solid gilding metal jacket for smooth feeding and clean performance and a tapering base which effectively decreases in-flight drag. That helps the bullet retain greater velocity, so it shoots flatter and resists wind deflection.
An FMJBT doesn’t expand inside soft tissue – it’s still going to smoke a varmint, and it’s not going to do a human-sized threat which means you bodily harm any favors, but we advise not using any FMJ for hunting medium-sized game.
HSM’s low fouling propellant and non-corrosive primer keep a rifle clean while delivering a consistent 2,800 fps muzzle velocity. The family-owned manufacturer loads new brass cases, which themselves are very useful for handloading projects.
