At the time of writing, there really is no cruddy 7mm Backcountry ammo. Federal Premium has been going buck wild loading it with top-of-the-line bullets because they want the deceptively powerful rifle cartridge to win hearts and mind all across the land.

And now Remington has joined the cause! This long-range hunting ammunition is loaded with the 175 grain Core-Lokt Tipped projectile, which surpasses its soft point ancestor in every way thanks to its suitably named BIG GREEN tip. Does the BIG GREEN tip complement the projectile’s boat tail, spitzer profile, and even weight distribution to a degree that earns the bullet a 0.540 G1 ballistic coefficient? It sure does. If the projectile hits its advertised muzzle velocity, then it’ll most likely stay supersonic until around 1,362 yards!

Remington’s advanced propellant blend and Federal’s Peak Alloy case technology both do their parts to secure that coveted flat trajectory. But what good is precision without commanding terminal ballistics? Not very good at all if you’re hunting! And the Core-Lokt Tipped has that angle covered too, you see. Its BIG GREEN tip is positioned on the rim of the jacket so it doesn’t quite touch the face of the nose cavity. That helps it store up more energy before finally connecting with the nose cavity on impact, at which instant it begins forming the famous “Deadly Mushroom” synonymous with the Core-Lokt name.
