One has a powerful snooter and long, agile legs. The other has higher intelligence and opposable thumbs. It’s deer vs. man – the ultimate matchup!

Hornady’s making the great contest a little more one-sided, because they’re loading Precision Hunter 7mm Winchester Short Magnum ammunition. Get your thumbs (and the rest of your hands) on this stuff and you’ll be unopposable this hunting season!

The ELD-X is match accurate, yet perfectly suited for fortuitous short-range shots as well. The bullet’s tough shank and InterLock ring work in tandem to secure 50% or higher weight retention within 400 yards; 85% or higher at 400+ yards. The ELD-X earns its final initial for its devastating terminal eXpansion – a large mushroom, and not of the fungal nature.

Like all ELD series bullets, the X variant has a Heat Shield tip with an extra ballistically efficient DVRT flat meplat. It’s made of special polymer that preserves its profile under aerodynamic heating, and therefore reliably complements the bullet’s drag-minimizing AMP jacket, secant side profile and boat tail base. Out of a 24” test barrel, the 162 grain ELD-X hits 0.631 G1/0.318 G7 BC, which stands for this approximate ballistic performance:
