International Cartridge Corporation (ICC) of Pennsylvania started out as kind of a small potatoes operation back in the year 2000, but since then they have developed into one of the world’s larger producers of frangible ammunition. Their 9mm ammo makes a worthy choice for training – especially when you want to reduce the risk of injury!

This round’s bullet is very light at 100 grains. That’s because it hasn’t got any lead to weigh it down! This bullet is made out of compressed, nontoxic metal powders, which gives it several benefits. It can’t deposit lead fouling in a pistol’s or carbine’s rifling. It can’t produce aerosolized lead when fired. It’s even okay for shooting wherever lead bullets are banned.

But because it is frangible, this bullet’s biggest benefit comes when it strikes a hard surface like a steel target, concrete wall or stony backdrop. On impact it essentially gets pulverized, becoming harmless powder that can’t threaten you with a fast-flying ricochet or splashback. It reduces the risk of injury to a virtual zero!

These rounds’ primers do contain trace amounts of lead, but they are noncorrosive. ICC’s frangible ammo also includes brass cases that are worth handloading.
