A Critical Defense cartridge is the one you want in your chamber when violence is your last remaining recourse. Hornady engineered every aspect of this 9mm round to serve you in a fight. Its brass case is nickel-plated, making it at once better able to resist corrosion and cycle through a semi-auto. Its low-recoil propellant is also low-flash to keep muzzle flash from blinding you in the nighttime. Its primer is a paragon of reliability and sensitivity.

And its 115 grain bullet beats all. The FTX is a special kind of jacketed hollow point, with a soft polymer column in its nose cavity that serves a double purpose. It prevents its cavity from clogging with fabric that could rob it of its ability to deliver expansion. It smashes inward during penetration to promote highly consistent and uniform expansion.

Hornady’s InterLock ring anchors the FTX’s concentric jacket and high antimony lead core together, ensuring the two retain the combined mass needed for consistently deep penetration as well. With its supersonic muzzle velocity out of a four inch barrel, this round’s FTX is a bullet that leaves a mark for sure.
