While not made to the exact Gold Dot G2 (54226) specification sold to the FBI, these cartridges utilize the many of the same high quality components including premium powder with a low flash signature, nickel-plated brass casings which resist corrosion and provide seamless feeding, and the newer Gold Dot G2 projectile.
Revisions to the Gold Dot jacketed hollow-point (JHP) bullet include an elastomer filling in its hollow cavity, a small rib cannelure, and five-point skiving where the jacket meets the cavity mouth. These features are all intended to provide more reliable expansion and weight retention after penetrating intermediate barriers (such as denim) without compromising the threat-stopping performance for which the Gold Dot name is known.
Including its elastomer filling, each bullet weighs in at 147 grains which is driven by a standard pressure charge for a smooth cycling impulse and a recoil consistent with the most popular personal defense loads.
