Aguila ammo comes from the TECNOS Company, which has been around since 1961 when it was established by Remington in Mexico. They make ammo for the Mexican military and police, as well as civilians and governments in several other countries.
We tried out a couple of boxes of Aguila's .45 ACP load. Like most practice ammo, it uses a reloadable brass case with a large, non-corrosive primer. Each case carries an Aguila head stamp, allowing you to quickly identify the origin of your brass if you reload. The 230 grain bullets are lead core with a copper full metal jacket. The rounds come packaged in 50 round boxes with a plastic tray to hold the cartridges in place.
We tested the function and performance of this ammo using six reliable handguns from various popular manufacturers. We ran at least a couple of magazines through each gun and didn't have any malfunctions. Ejection patterns consistent, and there were no light primer strikes or other ignition problems.
Recoil seemed moderate for a 45 and was similar to most other loads that we've previously tested. In most respects, we found Aquila to be comparable to the more popular brands of 45 practice ammo.
Accuracy was tested at 15 yards using the Springfield XDM on a benchrest. The 10 shots formed a consistent 2 inch group just below the point of aim. We've tested a few other practice loads in 45 that were more accurate, but this kind of performance is on par with the majority of the brands out there, including many that are priced slightly higher than Aquila.
Overall, Aquila in 45 ACP is a great bargain for reloadable brass-cased range ammo that performs on par with some of the most well known brands in the country.

Not with SA XDS45
It was hard to pass up the price but when it jams my XDS every 3rd to 4th shot it makes it expensive ammo. The Aguila 230gr just sits on the shelf now. I thought it was one of the dirtier bullets also. Glad it works well for other firearms but beware if you are wanting this to practice with a Springfield XDS.
Good for the price
Definitely good for this price. Agree that it may leave more residue behind than others. Just don't be too dearth in cleaning. Put about 70 or so rounds through my Model 325 and about 120 in a Glock 21, both worked pretty well, only a few jammed, but for the price I let them slide. Definitely would buy more!
Awesome service! Not my first rodeo with Lucky Gunner and will not be my last!
Ammo arrived quicker than I thought it would. I have not used any yet but I am not worried about it; I have never had any bad ammo from these guys...
Reliable performance for the price!
Never a jam thru my Colt Series 80 and even better performance when used in my Kimber Ultra Carry II. Super service at Lucky Gunner as ammo displayed is never in backorder and shipping is prompt and delivery is fast even on standard ground UPS. This is a great company to do business at!
Go9od for practice
Good for practice. Always goes bang, but had a few misfeeds in my Kimber with Wolson Combat Mags. Never happens with American name brand ammo.
Would buy again for range work. Not in my personal defense magazines.
Good shooting ammo for the price.
I love shooting 45's I have used this ammo in each of several differnet brands from Kimber Ultra Carry II to 1911 colt with no problems. Freat for target proctice. I practice a lot, glad I found this place. I was shorted two boxes, one e-mail and 2 days later the boxes arrived. Good service.
