This is without a doubt the best out of the box factory mass produced .308 ammo on the market. Some reviewers say that .7 inch at 200 yards is perfection (to them) but that still leaves room for improvement. Shooting an MOA of .35 at 200 yards is pretty fair but a Remington 700 5R MilSpec rifle out of the box with a good handload and 175 BTHP bullets can shoot .25 all day long. With a SOLID rest, not a bipod, a good shooter who is familiar with his rifle can beat that. The thing is, with handloads the shooter has a much better chance of totally consistent loads whereas with factory ammo, even Federal Gold Medal there is a better chance of a bad load that will throw his shot off enough to destroy a good group.
It's great ammo but .7 inch at 200 yards is nothing to scream and holler about.
With obamas morons ordering 1.7 billion rounds at the time, prices for ordinary shooters will never be reasonable again, at least until he leaves office. It will take a while after he leaves the White House before things in the shooting community even approach "normal" again, if ever. (Posted on 3/27/13)
