Winchester began offering its quality product in 1873 and has been providing the citizens and military of the United States with the same standard of quality ever since.
Video Transcript:The USA brand from Winchester is some of the most popular range and training ammo in the country. With its distinctive plain packaging, it's known to most people as Winchester white box. Winchester has been making ammo since the 1870's. And today, they provide ammo for American civilian and military from their plant in Alton, Illinois. A variety of ammo products are available from Winchester including defensive and hunting rounds, but the USA brand represents their low cost range and training ammo.
We tried out a couple of boxes of Winchester white box in 45 ACP. The 230 grain full metal jacket bullet is seeded in a reloadable, brass case with a noncorrosive primer. Our 50 round boxes came with a sturdy Styrofoam tray to hold all the rounds and protect them from any kind of damage during shipping. With a muzzle velocity of 835 feet per second, recoil was average for this caliber. And it's soft enough for long range sessions and hot enough to cycle all of our test guns reliably.
We shot six different guns with this ammo and had no feeding or ignition failure to speak of. Accuracy was also impressive with our 10 shots grouping right around our point of aim. We performed the accuracy tests from the bench at 15 yards using a Springfield Armory XDm. Overall, Winchester white box doesn't offer any surprises. It's solid, American made range ammo with quality brass that worked great for reloading. If you need affordable range and training ammo in 45 ACP, then pick up some Winchester white box.
