ATK is the world's largest ammo maker and the operator of the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, as well as the owner of the Speer, Federal, CCI, and Blazer ammo brands. The Blazer brand is ATK's economical line of practice ammo and comes in multiple calibers, available with either brass or aluminum shell cases.
For this review, we shot a couple of boxes of Blazer Brass 115 grain 9 millimeter. Like the name suggests, it features a reloadable brass case with a noncorrosive primer. Despite the FMJ marking on the box, Blazer Brass ammo does not have a standard full metal jacket bullet, but instead uses a less expensive copper-plated bullet. The difference is mostly in the manufacturing process. But for the shooter, it's worth noting that plated bullets do not have an exposed lead base and are better for indoor ranges, where exposure to airborne lead particles can be an issue.
It's not recommended, however, to use plated bullets in conjunction with ported barrels since the ports can shear off the copper plating. In terms of reliability, the Blazer Brass that we tested performed just fine in all six of our test guns, with no failures or malfunctions. We tested accuracy from the fence at 15 yards using a Glock 19, and other than one shooter-induced flyer there, we got a pretty good results.
Along with other ATK ammo brands, I found the cases for Blazer Brass to work really well in my reloading press. For whatever reason, it seems to clean up easier, and go through my press more smoothly than some of the other brass cases that I've used. If you don't reload, then check out Blazer Aluminum as a slightly cheaper alternative. But for quality reloadable ammo, Blazer Brass is definitely a good choice.

Blazer is the best value there is
Been using Blazer 9 mm FMJ for a long time. great storage longevity, hardly any jams or misfires. Fires cleanly. Just fired about 300 rounds without one issue. And Lucky Gunner had the ammo, processed my order quickly and efficiently and it shipped promptly without any delays or problems. I am a veteran, but didn't think to ask for a discount. I see that they honor Veterans and so I will ask on my next order. Great folks!
Reliable Ammo, Shipping Speed was Average
The ammo + shipping costs came out to be just a tad more expensive than my local Bi-Mart. The shipping speed was okay. The ammo was loaded on a truck quickly after placing my order, but it was not the extremely fast shipping experiences that some reviews have mentioned. The ammo, all 1,000 rounds, was reliable and worked perfectly in my handgun of choice. I would (and will) order from Lucky Gunner again.
Affordable and behaved well
Nice price even during trying times! 1st 500 airborne rounds only had 1 cartridge hang during ejection... reason unknown, manually removed, considered uneventful... Seem to fly where directed by this amateur... Love em... ????
So far so Good ??
As a couple of other people stated a few rounds were shorter and jammed, that being said they performed as expected the shooter did not !! But that's what practice is all about, I would buy this product again.
Haven’t used it yet…neutral rating on ammo
I can’t give much of a rating because I haven’t use the product yet but in terms of shipping it came so quickly. My only qualm is that after taxes and shipping the benefit of the discount for the ammo isn’t actually that much of a benefit at all. It’s nice to be able to buy bulk as I can’t purchase as much one time at the range but the price point is higher due to the expense of shipping and taxes. I really appreciate the company though because the customer service is amazing and the product arrives quickly. Just wish the discount was enough to make the discount more worth it.
Blazer Brass 9mm
I was very happy with the performance of the BB 9mm. In fact, I mixed in several clips of Winchester and noticed no difference at all. I purchased this shipment from LG because the shipping cost was much less than two other online dealers. Go Lucky Gunner ????!
Great Product, Fast Shipping!
Every round has fired perfectly in my new XD-Mod.2, and I am confident that the rest will do the same. Blazer Brass was recommended to me and appeared to be a good value. I purchased a smaller amount of Blazer Brass from Palmetto State Armory, it was not delivered as quickly and the package did not hold up as well. Shipping from LG was fast and packaging was well secured and arrived in good condition. I will likely buy again from Lucky Gunner.
Great Value and Quality
Have shot over 1,000 rounds with a Glock 19, Gen 5 without issue. Seems to be the best price for brass that I've found. I don't think that there's an accuracy issue with the ammo, just the shooter!
Looked at review & they were good so I gave it a shot. 1st 100 I shot they were some bullets that would jam & couldnt fire due to the tips being shorter than it is. Compared it to another one & they were different lengths. Only found less than 5 that I was unable to fire & threw em away. Other than that I'd buy 1000 rnds of Blazer Brass again. Good pricing.
Great Ammo Even Better Site
Heard about this site from a friend. Gave it a try. WOW. Very efficient and professional. The ammo works great too! Shot my first 300! I'll be back for more!
i've shot 1500-1800 rounds in three different pistols. It feeds well, no malfunctions. However when shooting in my IWI 941 Jericho and SIG 365 the accuracy is off. My Glock 17 does not seem to have a problem with it. With S&B, Winchester, Fiocchi ammo I've never had the accuracy problem.
I have fired over 3,000 rounds of the 9mm - 115 grain FMJ Blazer Brass through a Glock 19 Gen 5. There have been no misfires or any other performance problem. Also, clean firing. Have not performed a controlled accuracy test, but informal accuracy appears good. Great value!
This is my first purchase. Just purchased my first handgun: S&W M&P SHIELD 2.0. Was looking for ammo at a good price. Your prices were cheaper than what I pay @ the range. The only drawback is I realized that with postage and all it comes out to be almost what I pay @ the range. But it is still a penny or two cheaper. So I'll still do business with Lucky Gunner, a savings is a savings, especially when you buy in volume. Plan on buying a .45 to go with my 9mm, so will check out your .45 and eventually AR-15 ammo as well.
FANTASTIC performance w/my EDC Sig p320 compact, and GREAT value!
My Sig is very picky, so I've had a hard time finding range rounds it really likes. But with these rounds, I've shot almost 2000 rounds w/no malfunctions or misfires. If my Sig loves them, I do too. Great value, best on the market that I can find, and I search regularly.
I have now shot over 1500 rounds with this ammo and will keep buying this as my go-to range ammo. I have yet to have a FTF or FTE. I'm new to guns and cannot say if it is dirty relative to other ammo. I will say that I have to clean my carry G19 after 200 rounds because of the gun powder residue.
Finally made it to the range, ran 300 rounds through the Walther PPQ with no issues. The point of impact was consistent from varying distances. Field stripping the pistol revealed moderate debris of powder and copper. Great bargin will buy again.
Good value, Great performance
Love this site the ability to order is straightforward and simple and shipping is great. This ammunition is a great range ammo it fired fairly clean. No performance issues out of 996 rounds. The one minor issue I did have was one box was 4 rounds short, hence the value was only 4 stars. Would order again.
My Ammo Go To
Have used up 650 of the 1000 rounds of Blazer Brass, I ordered. Great product and Lucky Gunner is a great company to order from. It was easy to order and Lucky Gunner kept me updated on the status of my order the whole way. I will be placing another order very soon.
Love Blazer Brass, I’ve never had an issue with it. All my firearms shoot it with no problems. Lucky Gunner shipping was well packaged and received when they said. Will definitely order from Lucky Gunner again!!!
Fast shipping, accurate order, and no malfuntions
Lucky Gunner is the Amazon of ammo, accept that you don't need to pay for prime! All of my orders have arrive quickly and have been exactly what I had ordered. I've shot about 200 rounds of this order with ZERO malfunctions out of a Sig 365. Very happy, keep up the good work!
Blazer Brass is the best bang for your money!
First, LG is my go to for bulk ammo and other things! They are a fantastic company and my order is at my door faster, complete and accurate every time! I took this ammo with me to Storm Mountain Training Center in WV, for a concealed carry course. We went through 1500 rounds of 9mm in around 14 hours! Every blazer brass load I had fired down range. No malfunctions through my Sig p365. Great hits with surprising accuracy. Thanks LG!
Thank you for the kind words Danny! We try real hard to make every experience great! LuckyGunner.com
Exactly what I expected - and that's a good thing!
For range practice I typically use Blazer Brass 9, 115 grain, FMJ. But I was tired of paying for individual boxes at my local stores. I ordered a case from LG and have been well pleased with the results. I expected "case" pricing to reflect maybe a lower quality - maybe even seconds. But these came in 20 boxes of 50 - just like the boxes I'd get at the store, for a great price. Do I wish they were even more inexpensive? Sure! Going to the range can be expensive. But I feel I got good value for the money. Will definitely order again. Thanks LG!
The best affordable practice ammunition
Other than my Glock 19 which eventually chokes on everything I have ever fed it, all of my pistols love it. That includes P320 compact RX, P320 full, P365, P226M25, M11A1, M17, M9A3 and in 45ACP both Government and customized Colt 1911's.
I just made my first purchase of bulk ammo from Luckygunner.com. My order was shipped fast, packed perfectly, and was easy on the wallet compared to every other place I have bought from! I will pass this info along to all my family and friends, and this will be my new go to store for future purchases! Their website interface is awesome, real time inventory and allows you to find what you need quickly. Please keep up the great work and the great company!! Thanks Again
Dirty and Average
This will be the dirtiest ammo brand I bought last Christmas with the rebate deal. After shot, one side of the case was black, and some cases bent inward. Extraction upward and dropped on head, glasses, and clothes... P229 and 92FS/M9 worked fine; shorter barrel like PX4 compact and some subcompact guns got issues with extraction and going to battery. I wouldn't recommend this brand for my experience.
I've shot 5,700 rounds of Blazer Brass over the last 2 months, using my new CZ SP-01, and never had a single misfire or jam! My wife has shot 2,000 rounds through her Springfield XD subcompact without any issues as well. Blazer Brass is definitely a bargain for range training ammo.
Lucky Gunner has also been great! Wished I found them sooner!!!
For glock 19 gen 4
Wife shot 50 rounds in our new glock and had one round not load. I've since put close to 500 rounds down range with no problem. Since this was the rounds the gun shop sold to us for there range. I haven't tried any other in the gun. But very pleased with these. So will continue with them. Just bought a 1000 rounds last month and plan on another 1000 as soon as the weather breaks in ohio.
Good for range time
This ammo is reasonably priced and looks fairly clean. It shot accurately at 5 yards and 7 yards. The only problem I had with this ammo is that it had one failure to feed out of 100 rounds I shot out of my Glock 19. I am going back tomorrow and will put another 200-300 rounds down range to try things out again. Not a huge deal, but I was a little surprised at the failure to feed. All in all, this ammo is a good choice for practice.
Go To Range Ammo
I have shot over 1000 rounds of this through my Glock 34 and 26 with zero issues. When it's on sale, it's tough to beat for range ammo. American Eagle 115gr FMJ is more accurate than this out of my 34, but there isn't a huge difference. If I'm just shooting at the range, I buy whatever is less expensive. In fact, I just bought another case of this Blazer Brass when it was on sale. Whatever ammo you choose, buy it from Lucky Gunner! My ammo arrives in two business days. I couldn't be happier with them.
Good ammo for the price
Put 2000 rounds through my FNS-9.
Had a couple of jams at the beginning but attributed it to breaking it in and my grip. After that no issues. Can’t speak for accuracy as I am a new shooter but will buy again. Lucky gunner is awesome!
Brass looks Tarnished
I've always used Blazer Brass 115Gr. in Matches. I've never had a problem til recently when I noticed the last few orders the Brass looks Tarnished. I also got a few light strikes which I never had in the past. I switched to Magtech until Blazer sells all of the Bad Batches.. Check your Brass if you order it and if it looks Tarnished Send it Back..
Great Training Ammo
The Ammo itself
I've gone through at least 600 rounds in a P226 without issue. The price, even with shipping, is cheaper than what I can pay at a range. This is my go-to practice 9mm ammo. I trust CCI Blazer ammo for my training needs (.22LR and 9mm...and if I end up with other calibers).
Bad experience ×2.
Bought 2 different batches of a thousand rounds each. Approximately 10 % were bad. FTF , my wife's 9mm Ruger revolver had the copper tip or actual bullet just become dislodged to jam the rotation of the wheel of the gun. I noticed green tarnish at the base of the bullets and jacket. I spend a little more and buy Western ammo and have no problem. I ask lucky gunner to check the date codes. Are the bullets from an old batch?
Good range ammo
Shot 100 rounds through M&P 9, and 100 rounds through M&P Shield, no malfunctions. Accuracy for practice ammunition is acceptable. Shipment arrived on time, and came well packed. Will definitely buy again, especially at this price!
This is my first review of their products, but I have to say it's just amazing service. They promised they could get the item to me by this week, only 3 days lead-time. They did it! I ordered another exact item from their competitor online 1 day earlier than them! Guess what? The order aint coming till next week when it's ship the same time. So from now on, LuckyGunner.com will get my business for sure!! Thank you very much for helping me out.
First purchase from lucky gunner. Service was first rate. Best price on excellent ammo. Ran 200 rounds though my P229 and 100 rounds though my HK P2000. Performed flawlessly! Nothing better than a trip to the range that doesn't break the bank!
Ran 400 rounds with no issues
I waited two weeks before I wrote this review as I wanted to a full experience of the 9mm - 115 Grain FMJ - Blazer Brass prior to writing a review. I ran 200 rounds through my Glock 19 and 200 rounds through my Sig P320 compact. This was two 100 rounds session per pistol spaced a week apart. With exception of a couple “fliers” per pistol per session I found the ammo to be as accurate as any I used in the past. The first 10 rounds per pistol per session were bench rest for sighting in and or the get my sight picture, the remaining 90 rounds were free hand. I had zero misfires, jams or any issues with the 400 rounds I fired. I held off cleaning the pistols after the first session but did clean them after the second session after 200 rounds I feel safe in saying this is clean ammo (If 200 rounds is an adequate test) perhaps not the cleanest I ever use but giving the great price and performance I will purchase Blazer Brass this again. As always Lucky Gunner is the best site on the internet for fast delivery, prompt service and best prices.
Over the past 18 months we've shot over 20K of these rounds with no problems. Great training round and for the price we don't think you'll find a better product on the market. Great service, fast shipping and excellent customer service. Keep up the great work!
So far so good
I've just shot fifty rounds through my Taurus PT99. Not a single misfeed or misfire. It fed through fine and fired accurately. My groupings were pretty good. from 30' I was banging the 4" steel target 8-10 times from each clip. I'd definitely by these again.
Lucky Gunner #1
You guys are awesome! Not only was the shipping prompt and well packaged, but your prices are reasonable and fair not like other retailers whom price gouge and and raise the term "ammo shortage". Thank you both again for your GREAT customer service and for making shooting fun again without having to worry about breaking the bank while doing so!
Lots of mis-fires
I found that the ammunition had many rounds which did not fire and when reloaded would fail to fire again. Sometimes as many as 4 rounds in a row. My Friend experienced the same problem with his boxes of ammunition. Very unreliable however we were just at a shooting range.
So so cheap ammo
I ran 100 rounds through my glock 19 today. All rounds fired flawlessly but accuracy was terrible. My shots were all over the place. At first I thought it might be me having not shot in awhile. I loaded up another brand of ammo and my shots we're dead on. I'll be using another brand in the future.
Solid overall performance
I shoot around 1500-2000 rounds of Blazer a month. So far I have no complaints. It's excellent ammo for indoor range and combat training. I can't recall any problems, however as with any ammo that is produced in the millions of rounds, I've heard of the occasional bad batch. Still not personally encountered an issue though.
Great for the range
Our range sells this ammo for their rentals - obviously way more expensive - so I figured it's a decent starting point for us beginning shooters. It's very clean and so far we had no issues in our Glock 19 and Walther PPQ M2. I can't speak for accuracy with my limited experience but I will definitely order more when I run low especially if these go on sale again.
Failure to feed
I got a case of 1000, dumped 6 boxes into an ammo case, and have gotten so far 6 cartridges that have failed to feed into my H&K VP9. Each on examination has a small ridge of the metal jacket on the bullet pushed up against the brass casing. Never have had this happen before with Blazer Brass, but seems to be about 1 in 50 rounds to date. Very high failure rate!
Do want to give a great shout out to Lucky Gunner for their service, no delays prompt shipping Great Job by LG.
Great service from Lucky Gunner.
I've been using Blazer Brass in my Glock 19 and 43 for a while now and have never had an issue. First time buyer from Lucky Gunner. They were courteous, fast, and accurate. Arrived on time and very well packaged. I will be back for my next order.
Bought these 115 grain rounds for my wife to run thru her S&W M&P 9mm. She is very satisfied with the performance. Says she can notice a "reduced recoil". I'll accept her evaluation. Me, I still prefer the .40 S&W in my Glock 27, 22 and 35.
Good ammo, great price, incredible delivery
I have shot 500 rounds of this ammo through my Taurus pt111 g2 and my Beretta 92fs. Not one failure or issue, the Beretta puts them on the bulls eye with ease at 25 yds. The best part about this ammo was the lucky gunner. I received it in 2 days with no issues. I don't know how they did it, but they did. Great job lucky gunner and great price too.
A great range product for a great price
I just got a case of 1000 of these rounds, and I must say, they do not disappoint. Went through 200 the other day at the range. They shoot accurate, no fouls or misfires yet. Hard to beat the price, even with shipping!
Good value training ammo.
As always, great service for Lucky Gunner. This ammo is a good value by today's prices. Quality of the ammo is good. Two issues for some: it is "light" and burns a bit dirty. Never an issue with my Glock 19 or Glock 43, but may affect other makes and models.
Reliable and inexpensive easy
I usually bought reloaded range ammo at my local range approximately $14.50/box of 50. I searched many bulk ammo sites and found lucky gunner to be the best in price and service. Including shipping a box of new blazer brass 115gr 9mm if ordered in 20 box increments was over $2.00 cheaper than the reloads I was buying. I have fired 200 rounds so far and have had zero failures. Pistols used were xd mod2 9mm,pt709 slim,pt111 gen2 and Glock 43. No issues with this ammo in any of these weapons. Delivery was fast and the whole process painless.
Great range work ammo
This ammo is number 2 on my list for range ammo, right after Speer Lawman, but no jams or malfunctions at all. Maybe a bit dirtier but who cares if you clean your weapons?
Supporting USA ammunition manufacturers while receiving a great product! Trust me and the service from Lucky Gunner is the best compared to every company I ever bought a product from!
So be assured you will get what you paod for!
God Bless the USA and Springfield Armory!
Great product, no misfires with over 1000 rounds thru my CZ. Will for sure purchase again from LG as the shipment arrived faster then I imagined and outer box the ammo was packaged in did not make it too obvious what was in the shipment.
Not good range ammo
I usually order Fiocchi ammo but decided to try this and I wish I had stuck with Fiocchi. This stuff constantly jams; either FtF or FtE, at least once every 30 rounds. Fiocchi? Never had an issue. I wish I could exchange it.
First 1000 rnds fired with S&W shield & Tauris
Nice, was a great value when on sale. All fired in S&W MP and Taurus - no FTF's no jams with either gun. Great range accuracy at 25 yards. I'd buy another 1000 when on sale! Very impressive delivery time (3 days), I will always buy from LG. Waiting for more, thank you Lucky Gunner!
ACCURATE - CLEAN - AFFORDABLE
Terrific range ammo for my Glock G19 and Springfield XD mod 2. I have used up 4 or 5 cases of Blazer Brass in the past year. Never a FTF or FTE issue. Great sale price every so often - QUICK delivery to my home! Way to go, Lucky Gunner!
Well suited to 9mm handguns
Over a period of 18 months I have fired more than 3,000 rounds of this ammo without a single flaw. Guns used are Walther P99 , M2, compact CZ and CZ Shadow. The cost is competitive and LG service is excellent. Strong recommendation.
Blazer Brass works great every time, never jams, Rugers, Sigs, Walthers or Smith and Wesson. Never a misfire. Revolvers or semis. Great price and Lucky Gunner is a company that stands behind their sales. Only once had a problem with a different brand and they refunded 110% like they say on their site. Made the return and credit process painless. But will never buy anything but Blazer Brass or American Eagle anymore. Both work great!
Good deal all the way around
Caught the recent special and bought 1000. Have put 600 of these through my Walther P99C and they are great range ammo. 100% fires and consistent performance. And how you can you go wrong with the folks at Lucky Gunner? Quality ammo at a good price and delivered quickly. What more can you ask for?
700 Rounds Fired
I have gone through 700 rounds of this ammo and had zero fail to fire/feeds. I am using a full size Beretta PX4 Storm. I've compared this to Federal American Eagle, and a few economy type options to see how the carbon levels would differ when it came time to clean my pistol. I would say the Blazer ran pretty darn clean for the type of range rounds I've compared them to. As far as performance goes, well to be honest I believe it is the users abilities but having a consistent load helps. I found these to shoot pretty consistent. The value was great, I picked these up when they were on sale and I would purchase these again. Shipping and service from luckygunner.com was top notch. Friendly staff and overall good experience.
Awesome ammo, price and shipping!
Weapon: Sig P225 MK25. Cleanest ammo for the cost. Just picked up 1000 rds in bulk at an awesome deal! Most ammo websites don't have in stock but lucky gunner has plenty and at the cheapest price. Ordering was the easiest from putting in order Wed. night and submitting my FOID and DL, processed and shipped Thurs. and received Sat. Lucky Gunner gets an A+++++++++++++ and will get my future business and recommendation to my friends! Thanks Lucky Gunner!!
Really good ammo, if your looking for cheap range or "plinking" ammo, look no more. Been using it in my Sig P938, no failures of any sort & actually shoots pretty cleanly. Fast shipping & will be ordering again. Thank you!
Lucky Gunner is always solid.
Chris and Angela are the best at taking care of their customers. Lucky gunner always has a good deal, their product and timeliness are second to none honestly. Great labs section on the website too. Check it out. Thanks again guys!
Great ammo and a great price
Accurate, clean and a good value. Received in just a couple of days. I have made several orders from Lucky Gunner and have never been dissatisfied. I plan to continue to order my ammo from Lucky Gunner. Too bad I missed out on the absolutely lowest price this ammo was offered at, but still a good buy.
This was great, its my preference because of range rules prohibiting steel an other metals used in ammo. This ammo is brass, and never had a issue with performance. Most of all the customer service is GREAT, shipping ammo and getting it in a very short period of time. You guys are 5star, thank u!
5/6 ain't bad
Ran 'em thru 6 guns at the range. Only had a problem with a Sig, FTF once, FTE another. Put it away after that and went back to the others (Glock, Springfield (2), Walther, & Taurus). Quite happy with the price and overall performance.
9mm Blazer Brass
Bought the 9mm Blazer Brass for target practice, EXCELLENT PRICE ! Checked several different sites for deals, keep finding myself coming back to LG! Everything was perfect thru the entire transaction. I will recommend LG to others to purchase there shells. Thank You
Good Ammo and Great Service
First time buyer from Lucky Gunner and I have to say the experience so far has been excellent.
So far we have gone through 550 rounds on two S&W M&P Shield 9mm's with out any issues. I hope this brand goes back on sale!
Excellent Target Round
Great 9mm Luger target round. Reliable, accurate, and fairly clean. Matches up well with Hornady Critical Defense rounds. I intend to purchase again.
This was my first purchase through LuckyGunner, and it certainly won't be my last. You pay a little more with this vendor, but you get what you pay for in terms of service.
Great 1st Order Experience...Good Ammo
This was my first order with LG. Ammo was delivered on time, and placing the order was an absolute breeze. It's a bit more expensive than other vendors, but you get what you pay for. I plan to use LG again.
Blazer Brass Ammo
Ran a hundred rounds through my Ruger SR9c with no issues whatsoever. I plan to order this ammo again for range use.
Great training/range ammo
My wife and daughter went through about 600 rds in a weekend training class. No FTF or FTE that they reported. I'm really sold on Blazer Brass for training and range work. Thanks to LG for continuing to provide ammo at great prices and service that is second to none in my opinion. Customer for life!
Great ammo and service
