You’d certainly not want to get struck by this round’s full metal jacket bullet. Weighing 180 grains and charged to exit a 5 inch barrel at a velocity of 1,030 fps, it’s capable of slapping a 25-yard target with nearly 400 ft lbs of kinetic energy.
That said, the FMJ is economical because it hasn’t got a single feature which would have supplied terminal expansion. As such we’d only advise firing this ammo during target practice – its nonmagnetic bullets won’t upset any particular range masters, and they’ll provide satisfactory accuracy over all practical distances.
Federal exclusively loads virgin brass cases and non-corrosive Boxer primers. In addition to ensuring smooth functionality in all semi-automatics, these components make American Eagle series ammo perfect for handloading endeavors.
