This ammunition's most distinctive feature is Shot-Lok, a buffering resin that forms a solid block around the shot. The resin fractures when the shell is fired, instantly forming a buffer that virtually eliminates pellet deformation. According to Winchester, Shot-Lok enables these shells to put twice as many pellets in a 10 inch circle at 60 yards as the competition.
