I've been shooting Aguila ammunition for a really long time. It's actually my favorite brand of rimfire ammunition, and the one that has been most reliable in all of my rimfire rifles. However, I hadn't used a lot of their centerfire ammunition before, so I was interested to see how this Aguila .223 ammo performed.
If you're not familiar with Aguila, you should know that they've been making ammunition in Mexico for over 50 years. The plant was originally set up under the supervision of Remington, and they have a lot of quality controls in place to ensure that the ammo they produce is as good as it can be.
One of the first things I noticed about this ammunition is that it was clean and polished. They obviously take pride in how it looks. The bullet is a 55 grain full metal jacket conical base with a big cannelure, and there was a good amount of neck tension, which should reduce chances of bullet setback in automatic rifles. The jacket is a copper alloy and the core is lead, so there isn't any steel and it won't attract a magnet. There is a crimped primer and the case itself is brass, so you can use it for reloading if you want.
At the range, I wasn't surprised to find that the ammo performed flawlessly in all of the rifles I tried it in. It was more than up to the task of hitting steel at 50 yards, and was accurate enough when I slowed down and took my time, too. The muzzle velocity was pretty good for .223 ammo, too.
Overall, there was a lot to like about this ammo, and nothing to dislike. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it in the future.

Great practice ammo
Shipping was a lot faster than expected. This ammo fed and shot flawlessly through my stag model 3 plus Shot about 200 rounds zero FTL or FTF when the time comes will order more great product at a great price
Return customer for the same ammo. As I stated in my previous review, I would order again as long as it remains the best price available. I'd love to find comparable brass FMJ under 30 cents a round, but until I do I will continue buying this brand.
I had just gotten my ar15 and ordered a few hundred of a few different kinds of ammo. I had a few jams with everything but Aguila. I have shot it slow fire and emptied 30 round clips rapid fire and haven't had a jam yet. I would recommend over others any day.
I am shooting .223 through a bolt action Savage. I took my wife shooting and we went through about three hundred rounds...I say about because every box was short a couple of cartridges...but overall performance was consistent. Would buy again.
Will order again
Took my new CMMG M4 5.56 to the range to zero and familiarize myself with the weapon. No FTL or FTF. I was a little concerned when I read previous reviews that there was dented brass, but I didn't find any. Very clean ammo and I had no issues. The order arrived quickly and I will order again as long as it remains the best price available.
Lots of Jams
I've shot many kinds of ammo out of my POF 415 with absolutely no problems. Since I've had success with other Aguila bullets, I purchased 1,000 rounds. Tried them the other day and had continuous problems. One instance had me taking the gun apart to try to extract the FTF round. Used them in a bolt action Tikka T3 Tactical and had no problems, however.
Great product at a great price, has worked flawlessly in my series 581 mini 14, will purchase again without a doubt. Shipping took five days, not as speedy as others have claimed but surely reasonable. Thanks luckygunner for a pleasant transaction!
Very nice target ammo
I placed my first order at Lucky Gunner.com recently when I purchased this ammo for use in my Sig516. I am very happy with the Aguila ammo so far. I'm only 200 rounds through it in a brand new gun and everything is working perfectly. The price here was better than other sites I viewed, was in stock and shipped super quick. I'll definitely be a return customer for this Aguila ammo for target shooting and also to LuckyGunner.com.
Cheap But Still Quality Range Ammo
I bought these rounds and shot through nearly 1/4 of the case in my AR15 without a single FTF. I will purchase these again for my range ammo. There have been a few dents on some of the brass but nothing that would cause me to discard a round. Again, great value and highly recommended.
Good solid performance
My order was quickly filled and delivered. The ammo fired great with no hangfires, jams or duds. The only thing I noticed is that there seemed to be alot of slight dents in the brass right out of the box. Nothing serious to have to discard the bullet but more just manufacturing dings. Good ammo to shoot and use for reloading.
Great for range duty
Bought 1k rounds a few weeks ago, pricing was a little higher than other places but LG always comes through with great customer service and quick shipping. The ammo is super clean, and fires nice consistent groups out of my Mini 14 and AR15 at ranges of 25 to 100 yards. I will buy more as soon as my current stash exhausts itself (or as soon as my mouse finger gets itchy and clicks "buy")
