The 223 Remington Freedom Bucket is a perfect range companion for you and your AR-15. Packed with 300 loose rounds of .223 55 grain FMJ ammunition, this bucket is very portable, has a tight seal to keep out moisture, and can be refilled with more ammo after you've exhausted your latest batch. This loaded bucket weighs just 8 lbs and carries enough .223 ammo to keep you happy on your average range outing. Remington developed the .223 Remington cartridge in conjunction with Eugene Stoner of ArmaLite back in the early 1960's. Ever since, it and its sister cartridge, 5.56x45mm NATO, have been the premier rifle cartridges for lightweight semi-automatic rifles ever since.

The twist rate on a .223 Rem out of a bolt action rifle is 1:12 and is between 1:7 and 1:9 out of most semi-automatic rifles, depending on the make and model. The 1:7 twist rate is extremely tight and fast. It was designed to improve accuracy of the 5.56 NATO penetrator ammunition that weighs 62 grains. The AR-15 with a 1:8 or 1:9 should be sufficient for accuracy with these 55 grain rounds.
