HSM is a brilliant ammo manufacturer based out of Montana, and they choose our country’s best bullets when they load hunting rounds. That’s why this cartridge features Hornady’s 55 grain V-MAX. It’s a super-accurate bullet with a sharp meplat, streamlined profile, concentric match grade AMP jacket and swaged lead core.

But the V-MAX’s most impressive performance comes after it has located its target. At that point the bullet’s polymer tip slides into the deep hollow formed within its core. When it connects with the base it forces the V-MAX to explode in a burst of shrapnel. This round’s bullet will expand at velocities as low as 1,600 fps (half its muzzle velocity), but its relatively shallow wound channel makes it less than optimal for personal protection.

HSM’s Varmint loads come with the sterling virgin brass cases, sensitive non-corrosive primers and consistent powder charges they need to function reliably in any rifle, bolt-action or semi-auto.
