The MatchKing is a hollow point boat tail with essentially perfect jacket concentricity. At no point is the HPBT’s jacket 0.0003” thicker or thinner than it is at any other point. The bullet’s ballistically efficient narrow tip has a small opening – this is where molten lead was injected to create the bullet’s core, which is both form-fitted to the jacket and rearward-situated to promote better in-flight stability. The bullet’s base tapers off in a boat tail to minimize drag. These features complement the bullet's heavy 77 grain weight to grant it a 0.362 G1 ballistic coefficient. That is why the MatchKing is so effective at retaining the momentum it requires to follow a highly predictable trajectory, and remains supersonic until approximately 880 yards.
Remington gives the MatchKing the support it needs to do its best work by seating it in a premium match grade brass case, with a best-in-class match primer and propellant charge just behind it. We advise a 1:6” to 1:8” barrel twist for so chunky a bullet!
The MatchKing cannot expand during penetration and is not recommended for hunting medium game.
