Hornady plugged a 100 grain InterLock into this round’s shiny reloadable brass case. The bullet is named after its signature feature: the InterLock ring, which mechanically binds the jacket and core together toward the base of the bullet. The InterLock additionally features a cannelure in its midsection that serves the same purpose. The result? Phenomenal weight retention, and the deep penetration that places a deer on its belly in a big hurry.
The InterLock’s jacket is tapered and strategically grooved – two features that allow it to deliver wide yet controlled expansion across a wide spectrum of impact velocities. This is the boat tail version of the InterLock, with a ballistically efficient tapered base that bumps up its G1 BC to 0.405. That enables the streamlined InterLock to conserve no less than 1,000 ft lbs of whitetail-tackling energy up until around 389 yards!
