Federal Vital-Shok ammunition in .243 Winchester is a great choice for hunting deer and other midsize game. These cartridges use Nosler's Partition bullet, a split-core soft point design with a heavy tail that helps produce strong penetration for clean kills. The projectile's nose is formed from the exposed tip of the alloy core and wrapped in a tapered jacket that gradually curls backward upon impact with the target. The result is a nice, wide mushroom that brings down the animal quickly.

Each cartridge in this box of 20 fires a 100 grain Partition bullet at a muzzle velocity of 2,850 feet per second, with a muzzle energy of 1,803 ft. lbs. Expect solid accuracy, flat trajectories, and solid terminal performance.

Although Federal has undergone several ownership changes in its history (most recently becoming part of the Vista Outdoor group) it has always conducted the bulk of its ammo manufacturing at its longtime headquarters in Anoka, Minnesota. Federal ammo uses non-corrosive Boxer primers and reloadable brass cases.
