No low-tech soft point bullet on this cartridge. You’re beholding the awesome Super Shock Tip, which injures deer very badly through the power of its InterLock ring (which roots the jacket into the core to secure high weight retention, even at high velocity) and tapered jacket (which is extra thin around its rim to help the tip commence faster, wider and shocking-er terminal expansion).
It won’t magically turn the 243 Win into a 300 Win Mag, but the SST still does a great job of extending a rifle’s effective range. When the highly streamlined SST darts out of a 24” test barrel, its 0.355 G1 BC allows it to carry over 1,000 ft lbs of energy to just beyond 300 yards.
