The great Jack O’Connor told everyone to hunt with the 270 Winchester. Not everyone listened, but enough hunters trusted his word to make the 270 a mainstay on America’s hunting grounds.

If you’re a part of the O’Connor tradition, then we’ve got just what you need to get out there and give deer heck: Hornady American Whitetail Tipped 270 Win, featuring the all-talented Super Shock Tip!

Is the SST deadly? Almost excessively so, yes. Its design unites an InterLock ring (which holds core and jacket together to improve weight retention), cannelure (same), and long-tailed polymer tip which extends into the base of its lead core’s nose cavity. The thin jacket rim surrounding the tip enables it to commence expansion with relatively little force, so you can confidently aim for the farthest reaches of a 130 grain 270 bullet’s effective range.

Is the SST accurate? Assuredly. The streamlined pill’s concentric jacket, evenly distributed lead core, and low-drag tip, side profile and boat tail unite to keep the bullet trained square on its target.

Do you love ballistic data? Then we’ve got a real treat in store for you: ballistic data! The following numbers reflect the 3,050 fps muzzle velocity and 0.460 G1 BC Hornady recorded with the aid of their 24” test barrel.
