Punch isn’t Federal’s most elite line of defense ammo (Tactical HST, which is made for cops, holds that honor). But it’s also not Federal’s most expensive line of defense ammo, which you may appreciate if you aren’t some kind of billionaire who eats lobster dinners on yachts.
The Punch jacketed hollow point bullet’s dense lead core and long-notched, non-bonded jacket both fare well under the vast bulk of self-defense scenarios civilians typically find themselves in. Don’t expect the Punch JHP to tackle auto glass as effectively as an HST JHP, but it penetrates and expands just as you would want it to, even if the threat is dressed in heavy clothing or shielded by a light barrier like drywall.
This ammo is loaded with new brass cases and sealed primers. They are sealed against water, which is bad for powder, which is one of the reasons why powder is typically not stored out in the open.
