Sierra has made one fine varmint and predator cartridge for the 300 AAC Blackout fans out there, and they did it by giving this round a 125 grain GameChanger bullet.

Also known as the Tipped GameKing, the GameChanger possesses a perfectly concentric jacket, drag-reducing slanted base, spearlike polymer tip, and precise weight that all contribute to this round’s 0.298 G1 ballistic coefficient. In layman’s terms that means this round covers 250 yards in about 0.42 seconds, at which point it has energy to spare at 640 ft lbs. Accuracy and power like that together is small game’s worst nightmare.

The GameChanger’s polymer tip isn’t just an accuracy enhancing feature. It’s seated in a hollow point nose cavity, so when impact drives it inward it forces the bullet’s dense lead core and thick copper jacket outward in a display of devastating terminal expansion. Sierra optimized this bullet to expand reliably even with the 300 Blackout’s relatively light power behind it, so you can count on your rifle to see you through your hunt.

Sierra pays as much attention to loading ammo as they do making match grade bullets. This round’s new brass case, responsive primer, and hygienic propellant are loaded by discerning experts and then rigorously inspected to ensure you get some of the best ammo on the market!

Q: With the terminal velocity of the round being what it is. Is there a reason this round couldn’t be used on wild bores?

A: Hi Dave! Here is this round's ballistic data – numbers on the left are yards, numbers on the right are velocities as measured in feet per second: 0 2115.0 50 1984.6 100 1859.3 150 1739.3 200 1625.4 250 1518.1 You could absolutely use this ammo to hunt boar. I believe there is a photo of a boar on the box, as a matter of fact.

Q: Would this round be enough to drop a whitetail deer in a single shot with good placement? I'm mildly concerned the lower powder of a 300 blackout would make it difficult to get enough energy out of this caliber. I've seen this round one shot a hog though so I'm curious about it's ability against a deer.

A: Hi Sean! With proper shot placement this round's terminal expansion is theoretically up to the task. But like you say, its energy is not quite optimal for deer. This round's ability to deliver 1,000 ft lbs or more energy ceases by around 85 yards, and that's usually the minimum amount recommended for ethical whitetail hunting. Whether you'd try it out is your call, but proper shot placement is going to be more crucial than usual when you hunt deer with any 300 Blackout. Hope this helps!
