This 308 Win ammunition is manufactured by Vairog’s American division, which is headquartered in Tennessee. The Latvian company made their name in the ammo world with their match grade brass cases, so it’s only fitting that they would choose to load this ammo with what is arguably the best match bullet of all time: the MatchKing, by Sierra of Sedalia, Missouri.

If you dissected this round’s 175 grain HPBT bullet, you would be able to admire its unusually uniform jacket. Drawn to a concentricity standard of ±0.0003, it fosters what is essentially perfect stability in flight. The MatchKing bullet’s weight is similarly standardized, as no two bullets in this field box weigh 0.3 grains more or less than one another.

The MatchKing’s narrow nose, ballistically efficient jacket profile and flawlessly tapered boat tail all substantially decrease the amount of resistance the bullet encounters in flight – as well as the amount of drag it can generate. This keeps the MatchKing’s velocity faster and its trajectory flatter downrange. The MatchKing additionally sports a form-fitted lead core to secure even greater in-flight stability. (This is a hollow point bullet in name only; it is not designed for terminal expansion.)

This precision ammo come packaged in a reusable plastic field box. We have not yet determined its muzzle velocity or ballistic coefficient.
