This round’s 145 grain projectile is a little heavier than the average 357 Mag self-defense load’s. It achieves 1,290 fps muzzle velocity without generating too much recoil or excessive pressure in the chamber, and it reaches five yards with over 520 ft lbs of kinetic energy. That’s about double the minimum advised for defensive shooting. Should the Silvertip jacketed hollow point collide with soft tissue, its notched jacket will assist in faster, more uniform, and overall more effective terminal expansion.
Does the Silvertip bullet contain silver? No, and for that matter it hasn’t got a polymer tip either. It’s just a tried and true JHP that has stayed popular for so many decades simply because it works. (The bullet’s silvery appearance comes from its nickel plating.)
Winchester loads this ammo in Illinois, where it received its reloadable brass shells, noncorrosive Boxer primers and evenly loaded low-fouling propellant. A fine choice for all your lever-action rifle needs as well!
