This 38 Special cartridge has a real classic bullet – a lead flat nose. Nothing fancy about it, just a big chunk of lead with a broad tip that’ll punch a clean hole through paper or do a good job connecting with the surface of a steel silhouette. The all-lead bullet’s lack of a jacket presents a somewhat reduced risk of dangerous splashback after it strikes a hard surface. At 158 grains it doesn’t produce a whole heck of a lot of recoil when it leaves a revolver’s barrel at a mere 640 fps. And if you’d rather load this ammo in a rifle, you’re going to approve of the way its flat bullet is pretty much incapable of igniting the primer on the round it butts up against in the magazine.
This ammo may give you good old-fashioned performance, but its other components are modern where it counts. A non-corrosive primer to prevent rust; clean burning propellant that won’t belch out a thick cloud of smoke after ignition; and a precision drawn brass case for smooth feeding and ongoing value as a reloading component.
