A: Thanks for reaching out Mike! The BEB is essentially the same as a full metal jacket (FMJ), with the addition of having gilding metal which encloses its core at the base to prevent hot propellant gasses from creating aerosolized lead during ignition. Like the FMJ, a BEB cannot expand inside of soft tissue as a jacketed hollow point (JHP) would. As such I would not recommend BEB ammo for self-defense – there are simply too many better choices. I regret that 380 ACP ammo is exceedingly rare these days owing to the ongoing ammo drought, but if you can find it I'd highly recommend Hornady Critical Defense, Remington Ultimate Defense, Remington Golden Saber, Barnes TAC-XPD, Winchester Ranger Talon, or really any other ammo that has JHP bullets.
