As you are no doubt already aware, you do not want to load spire point bullets in a lever-action rifle. One wrong move, and baboom – that rifle’s magazine is blown to smithereens, and no one is having a good time.

That’s what makes Hornady’s LEVERevolution 41 Magnum ammunition so special. These cartridges are loaded with 190 grain FTX projectiles, which have pointed tips and are therefore more ballistically efficient. But because the FTX’s Flex Tip tp is made of supple polymer, it can’t ignite the primer it bumps up against inside the mag.

Hornady recorded this round’s 1,620 fps muzzle velocity with a 10” test barrel. You’re going to get a faster MV out of a longer barrel, but either way you’re going to fire a bullet that conserves more velocity and reaches its target with higher striking energy.

The FTX delivers the terminal expansion it needs in order to qualify as a true-blue hunting and self-defense bullet. Impact smashes its Flex Tip down into its high-antimony lead core’s nose cavity, which forces the whole bullet’s front end to mushroom out.
