This .45-70 ammunition from Federal delivers cost-effective performance for hunting thanks to its soft point bullet. Soft point projectiles have a bare lead tip with a partial copper jacket; the tip expands on contact with a deer or other game animal and forms a mushroom shape. This results in massive energy transfer and (ideally) a quick clean kill.

Each cartridge in this box of 20 fires a heavy 300 grain soft point bullet at a muzzle velocity of 1,850 feet per second. This is enough to produce reliable expansion at short to medium range. These rounds are effective against a variety of small and midsize targets including coyotes and deer.
