Bust out the birthday candles – the big ones. The United States of America is turning 250 years old this July 4th, 2026, and Federal Premium and Henry Repeating Arms have baked up something better than cake to mark the occasion. It is limited edition 45-70 Government hunting ammunition.
Underneath its patriotic packaging, this is Federal’s popular Power-Shok ammunition. It’s loaded with proper reloadable brass cases, 300 grain bullets, and the clean-burning powder it needs to throw said bullets at 1,850 fps muzzle velocity (24” test barrel). As a jacketed hollow point, the bullet isn’t overly sophisticated – but that does nothing to stop it from delivering the commanding terminal ballistics which take down boar, buck and bear with ease. Fine for target shooting, too, of course!
