We test fired five rounds of .45 ACP (Auto) Remington 230 gr HTP into synthetic ballistic gelatin to observe its expansion and penetration characteristics. The ammo was fired from a Kahr CW45 pistol at a distance of 10 feet. A four-layer barrier of heavy fabric was placed in front of the gelatin to simulate clothing.
The complete data for this load from our test can be found on the chart below. The photo slider displays the expanded bullets that were retrieved from the gel. Pictured below is a high speed video that shows the bullet entering the gel at approximately 10,000 frames per second. The diagrams at the bottom of the page should give you an idea of how this load compares to other .45 ACP (Auto) loads.

Excellent .45acp ammo for personal protection
Review by Terry
I have shot Remington HTP ammo in both 9mm and 45acp semi auto pistols. I have had "0" malfunctions. It groups extremely well, producing 2" groups at 7yds offhand in either caliber. Pricing by Lucky Gunner is a great value, making practicing with this ammo possible. How it fares in gelatin and/or the FBI test I can't speak too but I would not care to be on the receiving end. Good stuff!! (now for LG to get both 45acp and 9mm back in stock :O)

Goes BANG every time
Review by Casey
I have a pos RIA 1911A1 GI model. I have over 3000 rounds through it with no fails. This ammo works just fine in it. I know gel tests show it doesn't expand like the expensive stuff. But I still would not want to be on the receiving end of one. JMHO.

Great price. Shot them this weekend. No problems what so ever. Also LG shipping is insanely fast. Got it earlier then they projected. Will definitely buy more.

Works as advertised. It was awesome to fire this stuff from an HK45 Tactical with an Advanced Armament TiRANT 45; pull the trigger and the loudest sound is the slide ejecting the cartridge.

This round is very reliable and has very good expantion and feed just fine in my glock 30, XDm 45, Taurus DS & Colt 1911 GOV. I have noticed that the red colored primer sealant flakes off into the gun from almost every round upon being fired.

Does not chamber well.
Review by Ron
Does not chamber well in my new SR-1911 (less than 1000 rds. through it to date). Although the Remmington Golden Sabre JHP performed flawlessly (200 rds), as did all hardball ammo, without any FTF or FTE problems. These rounds are a bit to wide and do not fit smothly into the barrel without being forced. I can actauly see the difference in the width of the bullet itself and see scratches on the jacket when forced to cycle through. I had a similar problem with another brand of JHP ammo but did not expect this with the Remmington brand. I will use these up at the range and can expect some jambing. If you want great performance with a 230 gr. JHP I recommend the Golden Sabre.
