This cartridge is loaded with a classic 230 grain full metal jacket projectile. The bullet has a lead core, although its bi-metal jacket is made of steel with a very thin copper wash exterior. This bullet will indeed attract a magnet, so you had better make certain your shooting range is okay with magnetic ammo before you try bringing a case of 500 rounds there.
MAXXTech’s Essential Steel series ammo has steel cases, as you are likely already aware. A steel case makes a cartridge far more economical, but it has two main drawbacks: It cannot be reloaded, and its relative inelasticity means that a steel case will permit more fouling to enter the action. This ammo’s primers are 100% non-corrosive and will not cause rust to take hold inside your firearm.
