This cartridge is designed to reduce felt recoil – perfect when you’re dealing with a less massive pistol that lacks the innate ability to cancel out very much recoil on its own. The cartridge’s 230 grain bullet and 820 fps muzzle velocity (4” test barrel) are both perfectly normal for the 45 ACP. Still, the bullet’s terminal ballistics satisfy the FBI test protocol even when it is fired from a barrel as short as 1.9”.

That’s no ordinary bullet, either. It is the Gold Dot jacketed hollow point, which features the electrochemically bonded core and jacket it requires to pierce barriers intact and the precision-formed nose cavity that yields highly reliable terminal expansion. The Gold Dot JHP is seated in a nickel-plated brass case that promotes smoother cycling in a semi-automatic, and which also wards off corrosion that could impact functionality at the worst possible time.
