Maybe that describes you to a T – or maybe you have spent more time at the gun range than the average American has lived. Either way, you’ll get your kicks out of Federal American Eagle 5.56.
The 55 grain full metal jacket is the most straightforward bullet one could select for any kind of target work. It’s nonmagnetic, with a copper jacket to reduce lead residue accumulation on the bore and gas port, and a boat tail to enhance velocity retention and balance. Federal says the FMJBT has a 0.246 G1 ballistic coefficient, which means it does the following (more or less) upon hitting its advertised muzzle velocity:
0yds: 3,165 fps | 1,224 ft lbs | -1.5”
100yds: 2,773 fps | 939 ft lbs | 1.5”
200yds: 2,414 fps | 712 ft lbs | 0.0”
300yds: 2,082 fps | 529 ft lbs | -7.5”
400yds: 1,778 fps | 386 ft lbs | -23.2”
500yds: 1,509 fps | 278 ft lbs | -49.9”
Federal American Eagle 5.56 brass is brand new. It may not necessarily look that way, as the cases are annealed without being polished to a fine shine afterward, but it is assuredly new (and reloadable) regardless.
