Hornady’s Frontier label stands for two great American manufacturers’ best work. This 5.56x45 ammunition was loaded at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, the U.S. Armed Forces primary source for small arms ammo. As such each round sports a strong and heat-treated brass shell casing, with a crimped Boxer primer and charge of military-grade propellant. Lake City’s inspection team have no tolerance for inconsistencies, so this ammo will treat you to a smooth ride at the range.

But for the bullet side of things, Hornady stepped in to give this round their 55 grain HP Match. Although a hollow point by definition, such a bullet isn’t designed to widen out inside of its target. The opening in its tip means that this bullet’s base is jacketed and also that its core hardened in place within its jacket. Both of those attributes promote better accuracy, as does this bullet’s ballistically efficient boat tail base, low drag secant profile, and Hornady’s own super concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket.

And hey – even if this bullet doesn’t expand, its 3,240 fps muzzle velocity and resultant 1,282 ft lbs muzzle energy out of a 24” barrel should prove more than handy for dealing with threats.
