Wolf’s usual ammunition is steel cased. Many shooters don’t mind steel cases at all, but Wolf also caters to those who insist on brass with their coveted Gold line of ammunition! That makes this 5.56x45 ammo reloadable, a little more reliable in a semi-auto, and cleaner shooting to boot.

This is an M855 cartridge, which means its 62 grain FMJ projectile contains seven grains of steel in its tip. (Hence the green paint.) A “penetrator” bullet does a better job of … well, penetrating, of course! Whether you’d put that kind of terminal performance to work while having fun destroying a car door at the range or defending yourself against armored threats is entirely up to you. Just note that this bullet is textbook magnetic, so some ranges may not allow it.

A 62 grain bullet performs best out of a 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel, and this 5.56 round’s 3,250 fps muzzle velocity is fairly fast considering its relatively heavy bullet. Wolf’s non-corrosive Boxer primer will prevent rusting and makes reloading far easier than their steel case’s Berdan, and their clean burning propellant will complement an FMJ’s tendency to reduce barrel fouling.
