Whether you’re preparing for serious target practice or self-defense under unpredictable circumstances, this absolute unit of 5.56x45 ammo from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant belongs in your home!

This is an FMJ XM855 cartridge. The “X” simply means it’s not intended for our Armed Forces. What we’re left with is an M855 round, with a jacketed bullet that weighs 62 grains including its steel tip, which is painted green. The addition of that piece of metal makes this “penetrator” round far better able to pierce steel plating, making it ideal for defense against threats that are armored or in vehicles. It’s not a magic bullet by any means, but that ability to penetrate can spell the difference between giving your attacker a scare and giving them a debilitating injury.

Lake City sits on nearly 4,000 acres devoted to producing high quality ammunition, scads of which goes right to the Army. Their brass shell casings, Boxer primers, and propellant are all military grade, so your AR-15 can perform like a weapon for self-defense is meant to.

Please note that a barrel with a faster twist rate is recommended for stabilizing heavier bullets. A twist of 1:7 is advisable for M855 ammo.
