This 5.56x45 cartridge comes from Federal’s American Eagle label, a great way to enjoy the Minnesotan company’s expansive manufacturing expertise and for a reasonable price. This is an XM855 round, and as such has got a 62 grain bullet that includes a green painted steel tip which itself weighs seven grains. The bullet bores through light steel plating exceptionally well because of it, but it has still got the potential for fragmenting terminal effect under the right conditions. This bullet’s full metal jacket is hard and evenly applied, and its boat tail design amplifies its ballistic coefficient so that you can enjoy some real straight shooting.

These 420 rounds have new and reloadable brass casings, sensitive and non-corrosive Boxer primers, and clean burning propellant charges. They come in a new steel ammo can, which seals tightly to preserve its contents, transports well with its sturdy handle, and is rugged enough to serve over the course of many busy years. A great thing to tuck away for a rainy day, or to enjoy the mother of all range sessions with!

Q: Is there a steel core in this round?

A: The XM855 bullet has a 7 grain steel tip, which is painted green for easy identification. Beyond that it's composed of a lead core with a gilding metal jacket.
