The 5.56x45 is an intermediate battle cartridge by design – but any round of ammunition is capable of impressive feats of long-range accuracy so long as it’s loaded by the right people and with the right bullet. If you’re on a mission to group your shots tighter than the bark on a log, then you need Barnes Precision Match ammo!

This cartridge features its Utahan manufacturer’s 69 grain Match Burner. It’s an open tip match, with an exceedingly concentric copper jacket and a boat tail. The Match Burner’s lack of a cannelure makes its profile especially smooth! The open tip match bullet’s nose aperture will not supply the terminal expansion you would want for hunting or self-defense; it’s a byproduct of the OTM’s manufacturing process, during which molten lead is poured into the jacket so it can harden in place to become form-fitted. A 5.56 bullet with that degree of gyroscopic stability has a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.330!

Precision Match ammo is rightly loaded with Barnes’ highest-quality brass cases, as well as fastidiously matched Boxer primers and clean-burning powder charges. This ammo’s heavier bullets will do their best after clearing the muzzle of a 1:8” twist barrel.
