The 6.5 Grendel is great in theory – but like all cartridges, it’s ultimately only as good as the man firing it. If you’d like to tone up your 6.5 Grendel skills in anticipation of deer season or boar detail, then Sellier & Bellot has already produced the materiel you need!
This cartridge’s 124 grain full metal jacket projectile lacks any characteristics which promote terminal expansion. The FMJ is simply designed to go from point A to point B with as much accuracy as possible. Its lead core and copper alloy jacket make the FMJ totally nonmagnetic, and its ballistically efficient profile and very slight boat tail give it a 0.400 G1 BC. When the bullet clears a 23.5” barrel to attain a muzzle velocity of 2,576 fps, it shouldn’t exhibit transonic destabilization until approximately 880 yards.
