This ammo’s cases are outfitted with Berdan primers. As new production ammo its primers are 100 percent non-corrosive, but a steel case with a Berdan primer pocket is virtually impossible to handload without very specialized equipment and a whole lot of patience. (We generally tell people that they’d only want to try reloading steel cases if they were living in a zombie apocalypse type scenario.) Barnaul coats their steel cases with heat-resistant lacquer to reduce friction as they feed and extract.
This ammo has magnetic FMJ bullets. Their bimetal jackets lower production costs by substituting steel for copper, although it’s much softer steel than that which your rifle’s barrel is made out of. Alongside their protective outer layers of copper, these bullets shouldn’t harm your SKS or AK. Just take care that you don’t bring this ammo to a range that bans magnetic bullets!
